About Nazaré

The Nazaré Canyon channels and amplifies incoming groundswell, producing waves that can exceed 20 metres on the biggest days. It is a tow-and-paddle big-wave venue that professional big-wave surfers travel the world to ride.

For everyone else, Nazaré is a spectator’s wave. It is dangerous, chaotic, and strictly for experienced big-wave crews with full safety support.
